Graphic Intervention 6
Graphic Intervention 6 sees Nico Tracey working at the edge of legibility. Collaged fragments are positioned so that the viewer's impulse to resolve the image into narrative is consistently frustrated — and that frustration is the point. Forms suggest bodies, objects, spaces, and then dissolve back into pure composition. The tonal range is wider here than in earlier works in the series, with darker areas creating a ground that makes the lighter fragments appear almost luminous. It is a quietly unsettling piece that rewards sustained attention.
On canvas, the work's tonal range deepens visibly. The woven texture adds a warmth that sits in productive tension with the collage's cool graphic logic — material and method pulling against each other. Hand-produced in our Berlin studio.
